FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING

Christ the King

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

“You’re not the boss of me!” How often do we hear these words?
Stop for a moment and ask – why can this person not be our boss? Is it because we feel that they don’t really know us and we want to do things our way? Is it because what they are asking us to do is wrong? We don’t want a boss who doesn’t understand us or who will lead us astray.
What we need is someone who knows us; someone who hears our hearts crying out; someone who is at our side all the time, who does not mock us for doing the right thing, because they too have been there. And when we make a mistake, we need someone who can take away the shame we feel and let us be our true beautiful selves again.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a person like this as our boss, to walk with us on our journey?
Today we celebrate the feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Christ, the king who knows what it was like to be mocked and shows humble courage. Christ, the king who knows the sorrow of the Good Thief and shows him mercy. Christ, the king who knows our hearts and shows us the way to Paradise. Christ is the perfect king. Let Him be our boss, forever!
