Fourth Sunday of Lent

The Prodigal Son

On the Fourth Sunday of Lent, our Gospel speaks about a parable commonly known as the Prodigal Son. In this parable, the youngest son asks his father for his share of the inheritance. He was not evil, but for whatever reason, he gave in to his desires. He then went off to a distant country, where he squandered his money on a life of debauchery. Misfortune came one after another until he had nothing left to eat. It was then that he came to his senses and remembered how kindly his father treated the servants. In coming to his senses, the youngest son saw the goodness of his father and decided to make the long journey back to ask for forgiveness.
This parable reminds us that even those who have gone down the wrong and sinful path still have hope that they will come to their senses and repent. We pray that, during this season of Lent, we too will come to our senses and realize that the wrongs we commit, though smaller in scale, are reflections of the wars and destruction in the world.
May we come to our senses and see that on the Cross, Jesus shed His blood to save us, and that there should be no more shedding of blood, either literally or figuratively. May we come to see that what we truly desire is peace and reconciliation—what we want is forgiveness and healing.
We want peace in the world, and we want peace for ourselves. Let peace begin with us. Let peace begin with you and me. And our reflection is: Is our life better than that of the younger son in this Sunday’s Gospel? Do we realize that God is waiting for us to come and receive His forgiveness and mercy? What will we do to gain peace this Lenten season?

Free Office Chairs

Dear Parishioners,
As the renovation of our Church Hall is about to begin, we need to make space in the basement. We have a number of office chairs that we are looking to give away as soon as possible. If you are interested in any of these chairs, please come and collect them at your earliest convenience.

First come, first served! Don’t miss out on this opportunity to take them home!

We will hold the chairs until April 5th, after which any remaining chairs will be discarded.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prepare for the upcoming renovations. Please contact the Parish office.
