World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is encouraging us to listen and understand that the deepest desires of our hearts are reflected in our everyday actions, words and decisions. He is stirring our hearts and inviting us to reflect on the source of our spiritual well-being. Are we motivated by the world around us or choosing to learn from Jesus how to love with a faithful heart full of care, compassion and mercy?
Jesus understands we struggle in our human weakness. We live in a secular world that measures our worth by what we accomplish and possess. This focus, even when it is not what we want, leads us away from God who deeply loves us, to the point of giving us His very self.
God wants to draw us closer into a loving relationship with Him. Only in this way can we discover the joy of our truest selves, transforming our hearts to love, seek peace and walk in companionship with the poor and marginalized.
When we can enter prayerfully and sacramentally into the depths of our heart, we will find Christ’s grace-filled love waiting for us. In this sacred place, we are invited to renew our spirits and cleanse our hearts. Here, we touch and receive the beauty of God’s love for us and for our world that He loves so much.
