Emmaus Moments
The Third Sunday of Easter invites us to linger in the glow of the Resurrection, not as distant observers but as participants in its unfolding reality. The Gospel readings for this day often place us alongside the disciples—bewildered, hopeful, and slowly awakening to the truth that Jesus is alive and walking with us, even when we fail to recognize Him at first.
Jesus meets His friends in the most ordinary places—by the water’s edge, along a dusty road, at a simple meal. These encounters remind us that the glory of the Resurrection is not locked away in the past or reserved for holy places alone. It is alive in our kitchens, our workplaces, our conversations, and in every act of love that breathes life into weary hearts.
Easter is not just a story we remember; it is a power we live. It tells us that no darkness is final, no failure is beyond redemption, and no heart is too far gone for God’s renewing touch. Like the disciples, we may wrestle with doubt or carry the weight of disappointment, but the Risen Jesus comes to us still, speaking peace, rekindling hope, and calling us forward.
Therefore, this week, the invitation is simple yet profound: to keep our eyes open for the quiet ways Jesus walks beside us, to welcome Him into our “Emmaus moments,” and to let our hearts burn with renewed joy, courage and love.
Our reflection is: what should we do to see the Risen Jesus in the breaking of bread, in the faces of those we meet, and in the quiet moments where hope is reborn?

SHARELIFE 2026
Through ShareLife, you helped Tara rebuild her life
Tara’s childhood was anything but safe. Conflict and fear filled her days, and as she grew older, home life became unbearable. She waited, hoping things would change, but she had to leave once she became a teenager. Because of your warm heart, Tara found safety at Covenant House Toronto, a Catholic Charities agency you support through ShareLife. After a short stay in crisis shelter, she moved into the Rights of Passage program, determined to rebuild her life.
ShareLife Sunday special collections are taking place next weekend on April 26. Please give at the parish using a ShareLife envelope, or online through the parish or at sharelife.org/donate.
